Baseball Game Preview: Athens Drive Jaguars vs. Rolesville Rams

The Athens Drive Jaguars will square off against the Rolesville Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Athens Drive knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Rolesville likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, Athens Drive got the win against Panther Creek by a conclusive 14-4. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Catamounts recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Anderson Hanes and Paul Harrell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Hanes struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Harrell tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That one hit allowed gave Hanes a new career-low. At bat, Hanes scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Harrell scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Harrell a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abdel Amra, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Delgado, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Athens Drive was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Creek only posted a batting average of .150.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Rolesville's offense. They came up short against Corinth Holders on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost six in a row.

Athens Drive's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Rolesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
