Volleyball Recap: Doherty Comes Up Short

Doherty managed to slip by Fountain-Fort Carson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Trojans on Thursday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Doherty was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Fountain-Fort Carson work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 27-25, 25-17.

Brenna Moerman paced Doherty's offense, picking up 13 kills. Moerman got some help from Makari Cooper and her 13 assists.

Doherty's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5.

Doherty has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Vista Ridge on the 17th. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Pueblo West on the 21st.
