Volleyball Recap: Doherty Takes a Loss

Doherty managed to slip by Fountain-Fort Carson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Spartans came up short against the Trojans on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Doherty ultimately came up short, they really made Fountain-Fort Carson work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-23, 27-25, 25-17.

Brenna Moerman paced Doherty's offense, picking up 13 kills. Moerman got some help from Makari Cooper and her 13 assists.

Doherty's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Doherty is set to square off against their familiar foe Vista Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Fountain-Fort Carson will take on rival Pueblo West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
