Softball Game Preview: Corning Cardinals vs. Live Oak Lions

The Corning Cardinals will face off against the Live Oak Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Corning's offense. They lost 10-0 to Las Plumas on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Live Oak was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They came up short against Orland, falling 8-2.

Sarah Jupina was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, Alexa Medina was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Live Oak has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Corning, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
