Softball Recap: Fort Bend Elkins Drops Highest Score of Season Against Fort Bend Clements

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Bend Elkins). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Fort Bend Clements Rangers on Friday. The Knights not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8, 2024.

Adrian Thummel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Thummel was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jaila Davis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Maci Willis was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Fort Bend Elkins kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.

Fort Bend Elkins' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Fort Bend Clements, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Fort Bend Elkins will host Fort Bend Hightower at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bend Elkins' pitchers better be ready for this one: Fort Bend Hightower has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
