Softball Preview: South Allegheny Gladiators vs. Seton LaSalle Rebels        
        
		
            The South Allegheny Gladiators will hit the road for the first time this season to  take on  the Seton LaSalle Rebels  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. South Allegheny will be strutting in after a  win while Seton LaSalle will be coming in after a  defeat.
South Allegheny proved they can win big  on Tuesday (they won by 16) and  on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  14-12  victory over Oakland Catholic.
 Ava Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   three  hits (and not a single walk). Brown was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-4. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in March of 2024.
 In other batting news, South Allegheny got a  massive  performance out of  Taylor Bowman, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave  Bowman a new career-high in  doubles (two).  Emma Jackson was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing  Two bases. while going 4-for-5.
 South Allegheny  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakland Catholic struck out 15 times.
Meanwhile, Seton LaSalle had to hit the road for their first game and  it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against  Peters Township on Wednesday, falling  10-3. Sadly, the  loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.
 Seton LaSalle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Layla Chapman, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  double and one  RBI.
 South Allegheny took their  win against Seton LaSalle  in their previous matchup  back in March of 2024 by a conclusive  15-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Allegheny since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
