The home team had won the previous four meetings between Auburn and Prattville, and Auburn kept the tradition alive. The Auburn Tigers put the hurt on the Prattville Lions with a sharp  9-2 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matchups by seven  runs or more  so far this season.
 Will Whatley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run over four innings pitched. What's more,  he gave up only zero  walks, the fewest he's  had  over his last five  games. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing  Two bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most  runs  he has posted  over his last 13  contests.
 In other pitching news,  Hank Brantley looked comfortable as he  pitched 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits any time he's  pitched this season.
 Back at the plate,  JB Upton was  excellent,  going 1-for-3 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and one  run. That  triple marked the first that  he  hit this season. Another player making a difference was  Weston Luther, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Auburn was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .452. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  batting average total in three consecutive  matches.
Auburn moved to 8-5 with that  win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Prattville, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the  defeat, which was their fifth straight  on the road.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will take on Stanhope Elmore at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. We've got a battle between Lions coming up.
