Softball Preview: Kings Mountain Mountaineers vs. Stuart W. Cramer Storm
Kings Mountain is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will look to defend their home field against the Stuart W. Cramer Storm at 6:00 p.m. Kings Mountain will be strutting in after a win while Stuart W. Cramer will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row dating back to last season, Kings Mountain turned things around against Chase on Tuesday. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Mountaineers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024.
Maddie Huffman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Huffman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Anna Wooten was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Paige Fleming, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Stuart W. Cramer came up short against Burns on Tuesday, falling 20-6.
The win got Kings Mountain back to even at 1-1. As for Stuart W. Cramer, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
