            Baseball Recap: Canisius Crusaders vs. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders        
        
		
        
        
            Canisius hadn't done well against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Monday. The Crusaders walked away with  a   5-1  victory over the Marauders. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the   9-8 win the Marauders walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in May of 2024.

 Jack Steiner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He also  tossed a  walk, which is notable because Canisius is 4-2 when he allows at  most  two  walks, but 5-6 otherwise.
 On the hitting side,  Gavin Eynon was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases and two  runs. He has become a key player for Canisius: the team is undefeated when he posts  at  least  two  stolen bases, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was  David Barczak, who  went 1-for-3 with two  RBI and one  run.
Canisius now  has a winning record of 9-8. As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, they now  have a losing record of 7-8-1.
Canisius will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Marauders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
