Preview: Lincoln Lions vs. Westmont Warriors

The Lincoln Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Westmont Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.

Lincoln fought the good fight in their overtime game against Pioneer on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 67-58 to the Mustangs. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mussie Yimer, who scored 16 points. Caleb Hooks was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Meanwhile, Westmont came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Willow Glen with a 49-43 win. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but Westmont was the better team in the second half.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Westmont, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Lincoln strolled past Westmont in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 by a score of 54-40. Will Lincoln repeat their success, or does Westmont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
