Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton Township Rangers vs. Licking Heights Hornets

The Hamilton Township Rangers are taking a road trip to take on the Licking Heights Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton Township will be strutting in after a win while Licking Heights will be coming in after a defeat.

Hamilton Township is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Genoa Christian Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hamilton Township blew Genoa Christian Academy out of the water with a 63-29 final score. The Rangers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Hamilton Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexis Wooten led the charge by going 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Jael Haynes-Lee was another key player, putting up 12 points along with seven assists and five boards.

Hamilton Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Licking Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-42 heartbreaker at the hands of Zanesville.

Licking Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Hamilton Township, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-9.

Hamilton Township was able to grind out a solid win over Licking Heights when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 43-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hamilton Township since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
