Baseball Recap: Godwin Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

On Thursday Godwin's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Atlee Raiders. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cal Travers looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Godwin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Hartsfield, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Godwin pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Atlee, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Godwin will venture away from home to square off against Maury at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Atlee, they will head out to take on North Stafford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
