Basketball Recap: Pickens Comes Up Short

Pickens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the Seneca Bobcats 87-31. While losing is never fun, the Blue Flame can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Bobcats are ranked 97th).

Pickens' loss came despite strong showings from Will Stone and Eli Doty. Stone posted seven points, while Doty put up eight points.

Seneca got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Stu Finley out in front who went 6 of 12 en route to 19 points along with seven boards and six assists. Chaz Moss was another key player, going 6 for 8 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Pickens' defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Seneca, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.

Pickens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-43 loss against Blue Ridge on the 28th. Seneca has also already played their next contest, a 60-43 victory against Berea on the 28th.
