Basketball Recap: Westland Drops Season-High Score on Shekinah Christian

Westland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shekinah Christian Flames. One positive for the Cougars, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Arianna Fee, who posted 19 points. Those 19 points gave Fee a new career-high. Ijiahana Colpetro was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Shekinah Christian was led to victory by Noelia Wanty and Haylee Beachy. Wanty dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Beachy went 8 of 14 on her way to 24 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail DeTelder, who scored eight points.

Westland's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Shekinah Christian, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-4 record.

Westland has already played their next game, an 84-10 defeat against Westerville South on the 10th. As for Shekinah Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-18 victory against Northside Christian on the 10th.
