Basketball Recap: Mitchell Marauders vs. Walsenburg Panthers
There's no place like home for Mitchell, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They slipped by the Walsenburg Panthers 42-41 on Tuesday.

Noah Romero was a one-man wrecking crew for Mitchell as he en route to 20 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Romero a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Oshun Reed, who posted five points and seven steals.
Despite the loss, Walsenburg still got an impressive performance from Landon Eccher, who on his way to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Eccher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Tenorio, who had five points along with 15 boards and three blocks.
Mitchell's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-20. As for Walsenburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
Mitchell will be playing in front of their home fans against Thomas MacLaren School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thomas MacLaren School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. As for Walsenburg, they will be taking part in a tournament against Las Animas at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Walsenburg is facing Las Animas at the right time seeing as Las Animas is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
