Softball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial and Coronado squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Centennial had to settle for second. They lost 23-6 to the Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since April 7th.

Leeah Ibarra led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Estrada, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 13-20. As for Coronado, their record now sits at 12-10.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Centennial will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.2 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Coronado, they will venture away from home to take on Palo Verde at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
