Softball Recap: Pasco Pirates vs. Seminole Warhawks
Pasco and Seminole squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Pasco had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Warhawks by a score of 12-10. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Abigail Grubbs put in work no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Shalyn Carter and Morgan Montelongo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Carter went 2-for-5 with three runs and one triple, while Montelongo got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Pasco's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Seminole, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season.
Pasco does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Seminole, they will face off against Clearwater at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tornadoes have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
