Baseball Game Preview: San Dieguito Academy Mustangs vs. Escondido Cougars

For the second straight game, San Dieguito Academy will face off against Escondido. The Mustangs will face off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

San Dieguito Academy proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Escondido 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since March 26, 2024.

Patrick Krenkler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Krenkler wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gage Garrison, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Those three hits gave Garrison a new career-high.

Escondido's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for San Dieguito Academy, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 6-16.
