Baseball Recap: Fremont-Mills Comes Up Short

After flying high against Essex on Thursday, Fremont-Mills came back down to earth. The Knights fell just short of the Stanton Vikings by a score of 7-6 on Friday. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 13-3.

Fremont-Mills has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Stanton, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Coming up, Fremont-Mills is taking a road trip to square off against CAM at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Stanton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Red Oak on the 14th.
