Basketball Recap: Hope Academy Beats South Lake for Their Fourth Straight Win

Hope Academy waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 57-52 W against the South Lake Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Trojan Tigers: when they faced off against the Eagles back in January, they had to take a 73-72 loss.

Hope Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dwayne Foreman III, who went 8-for-17 en route to 22 points and four steals. Foreman III is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Willie Griggs, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Despite the loss, South Lake still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Pina, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was David Pina, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 10 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Hope Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points over those games. As for South Lake, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-10.

Hope Academy has already played their next match, a 69-63 win against Life Christian Academy on the 10th. As for South Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-55 loss against Lake Minneola on the 3rd.
