Baseball Recap: St. Michael's Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

St. Michael made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sandia Prep, but they still couldn't quite topple them. St. Michael's pitchers stepped up to hand Sandia Prep a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. For the Horsemen, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 victory the Sundevils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Aidan Cedillo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Santiago Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

St. Michael's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

St. Michael's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average this season. As for Sandia Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Michael's will venture away from home to challenge East Mountain at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Mountain will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something St. Michael's surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sandia Prep, they are taking a road trip to face off against New Mexico Military Institute at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
