Baseball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View lost to Wilcox back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Spartans fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly two runs.

Brennan Dooley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Mountain View's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 1-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Mountain View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Huang, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Mountain View has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Wilcox, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

While Mountain View had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
