Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] recap Oct. 23, 2012

Berlin Brothersvalley extended the longest winning streak in Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] this week by beating Meyersdale, 28-27. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Mountaineers.

Blacklick Valley moved up to 375 from 412 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings were able to make move up by defeating Conemaugh Valley 31-7.

Blake Miller put up the best numbers through the air as Berlin Brothersvalley defeated the Red Raiders. He finished with nine completions for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Miller's favorite target this week was Luke Sprowls, who caught one pass for 51 yards.

Isaiah Sajatovich was the best wideout in the league this week as Ferndale fell to Windber. Sajatovich racked up five receptions for 101 yards. Carlos Mason helped Ferndale's passing attack out by catching four balls for 40 yards.

Brock Medva was the most productive running back in Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] this week. He ran for 208 yards on 26 carries as Shade lost to the Ramblers. Teammate Cody Kiser added to the ground attack by rushing for 39 yards.

Ferndale's Chad Eisenhuth and Sajatovich have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Eisenhuth has thrown for 910 yards this season, while Sajatovich, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 27 catches for 476 yards. The Panthers' Medva leads the league in rushing yards with 1293.

Shane Corson of the the Bluejays is only 84 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Corson has rushed for 916 yards on 154 carries so far this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when North Star takes on Blacklick Valley. As it stands, the Cougars are in fourth, while William Zamboni's team is in fifth.

Doug Paul's team and Meyersdale played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Doug Paul's team eventually emerging with a 28-27 victory. Miller ran for 12 yards and caught one passes for five yards in the win.
