Basketball Game Preview: Wylie Pirates vs. Lakeview Centennial Patriots

The Wylie Pirates will head out to square off against the Lakeview Centennial Patriots at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Last Friday, everything went Wylie's way against Garland as Wylie made off with a 65-42 win. The Pirates pushed the score to 57-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Owls cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lakeview Centennial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 33-32 victory over Garland. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Owls are ranked 686th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakeview Centennial is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 21-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.9 points per game. As for Wylie, their record is now 17-11.

Wylie skirted past Lakeview Centennial 47-44 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wylie since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
