Basketball Recap: Lafayette Central Catholic Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

If Rensselaer Central wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lafayette Central Catholic, they should've done a better job of containing Mikey Stapleton. The Lafayette Central Catholic Knights slipped by the Rensselaer Central Bombers 54-53 on Saturday thanks in part to Stapleton, who posted 12 points and six steals. Those six steals gave him a new career-high.

Charlie Seaburg was another key player, putting up ten points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Lafayette Central Catholic's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Rensselaer Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Lafayette Central Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-38 defeat against Western on the 7th. As for Rensselaer Central, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Lafayette at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th.
