Softball Recap: Round Mountain Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Round Mountain rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Indian Springs Thunderbirds 17-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted against the Thunderbirds since May 10, 2024.

Samarah Swafford was excellent, going 4-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Rylie Nowack, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Round Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Round Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Indian Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.

Round Mountain and Indian Springs are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Knights will square off against Pahranagat Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Round Mountain surely won't give up without a fight. As for Indian Springs, they will take on Laughlin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 12.9 runs per game this season.
