Basketball Game Preview: Dunlap Eagles vs. Canton Little Giants

The Dunlap Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Canton Little Giants at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Canton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Dunlap, who comes in off a win.

Dunlap is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing East Peoria: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Eagles blew the Raiders out of the water with a 77-31 final score. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Raiders are ranked 542nd).

Meanwhile, Canton might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Metamora an easy 52-32 victory.

Dunlap is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points over those games. As for Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Dunlap couldn't quite finish off Canton in their previous matchup back in February and fell 46-44. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
