Baseball Game Preview: Christoval Cougars vs. San Angelo HomeSchool Saints

The Christoval Cougars will challenge the San Angelo HomeSchool Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christoval will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Christoval got the win against Sonora by a conclusive 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Christoval got a big performance out of Blaze Webber, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Webber has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is 8-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Tucker Boness was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Christoval was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in ten consecutive games.

Meanwhile, San Angelo HomeSchool lost 18-1 to East Texas Homeschool Sports on Thursday. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Christoval pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for San Angelo HomeSchool, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Everything went Christoval's way against San Angelo HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in March, as Christoval made off with a 17-11 victory. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
