Recap: Middle Creek Mustangs vs. Holly Springs Golden Hawks

The Middle Creek Mustangs waltzed into their match Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They were the clear victor by a 67-44 margin over Holly Springs. Considering Middle Creek has won four contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Joi Pergerson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Middle Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alysia Pergerson, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Holly Springs lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amy Lissow. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Lydia Thomas, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Middle Creek pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Holly Springs, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Middle Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against Cary at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cary will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 318th, while Middle Creek is ranked 60th). As for Holly Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Green Level at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Green Level focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
