Softball Recap: Hampton Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Hampton took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against Johnson County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Longhorns 11-9. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matches in a row.

Lillian Andrews was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Maleah Scalf was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5.

Hampton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in six consecutive contests.

Hampton's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Johnson County, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton will host West Greene at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnson County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Unicoi County at 5:30 p.m.
