Basketball Game Preview: Palatine Pirates vs. Jacobs Golden Eagles

The Palatine Pirates will challenge the Jacobs Golden Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Thursday, Palatine came up short against Fremd and fell 57-47. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Vikings are ranked 18th).

Jacobs has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of McHenry on Friday.

Jacobs' defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Palatine, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10.

Everything went Palatine's way against Jacobs in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as Palatine made off with a 62-41 win. Does Palatine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jacobs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
