Softball Recap: Wellsville Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wellsville took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against East Liverpool, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Potters 9-7. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The victory (which was Wellsville's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for East Liverpool, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Coming up, Wellsville will head out to challenge East Palestine at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Liverpool, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Harrison Central at 5:00 p.m.
