Baseball Recap: Pasco Victorious

Pasco came out on top against Hudson on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Pirates walked away with a 13-9 win over the Cobras. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Cobras recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Andrew Blommel was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs. He has become a key player for Pasco: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Yanuel 'Yanni' Mercado, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Pasco always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pasco's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Hudson, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-8.

Coming up, Pasco will be playing at home against Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Seahawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hudson, they will square off against Tarpon Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cobras' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spongers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
