Basketball Recap: South Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact South can now relate to. They were dealt a 60-31 defeat at the hands of the Brush Arcs on Wednesday. The Rebels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-13.

South's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddie Luciano, who posted 13 points. That was a full 41.9% of South's points, marking the fourth time in a row Luciano has put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinidy Searcy, who had eight points.

South has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. Brush's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brush, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Madison at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Madison's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.
