It was a good run, but South Fayette unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mars Fightin' Planets. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fightin' Planets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

South Fayette's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Mars, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

South Fayette and Mars could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. South Fayette will challenge Baldwin at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday down 90 places (109 vs. 19). Similarly, Mars (ranked 170th) will meet Montour (ranked ninth) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
