Basketball Game Preview: Freeport Bulldogs vs. Wicksburg Panthers

The Freeport Bulldogs and the Wicksburg Panthers will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Freeport has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Freeport easily dispatched Blountstown on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Freeport fell just short of Crestview by a score of 67-65 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (63), Freeport still had to take the loss.

Wicksburg has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by Holmes County 62-30 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 159th in Alabama, while the Blue Devils are ranked 24th in Florida).

Freeport has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Wicksburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
