Basketball Recap: Cimarron-Memorial Spartans vs. Del Sol Dragons

The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 85-73 victory over Del Sol. Given Cimarron-Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Dragons are ranked 81st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gerald Patterson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 19 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Arellano, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.

Del Sol lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaeden Alexander, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alexander has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Luis Lozano, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Cimarron-Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Del Sol, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
