Baseball Recap: Rushville Lions vs. Lawrenceburg Tigers
Rushville had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-15 to make it six. They fell just short of the Lawrenceburg Tigers by a score of 13-12. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in April.
Casey Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Trent Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
As for Lawrenceburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.
On Lawrenceburg's side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Richard, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Richard a new career-high. T.J. Tibbetts was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Coming up, Rushville will face off against Franklin County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lawrenceburg, they will square off against East Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
