Baseball Game Preview: Northern Cambria Colts vs. United Lions

The Northern Cambria Colts will face off against the United Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northern Cambria knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully United likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Northern Cambria made easy work of West Branch and carried off a 12-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, United owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against Penns Manor by a score of 4-0. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Connor Darr, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan James, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Northern Cambria's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for United, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Northern Cambria couldn't quite get it done against United in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
