Softball Recap: Mattoon Takes a Loss

Mattoon and Glenwood squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mattoon had to settle for second. They lost 9-2 to the Titans. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Greenwave couldn't push the score so high this time.

Mattoon dropped their record down to 13-19 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Glenwood, the victory was the 23rd in a row for them, bringing their record up to 32-1.

Looking ahead, Mattoon will venture away from home to challenge Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Varsity Opponent has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.84 runs per game on average), something Mattoon will no doubt try to take advantage of. Glenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
