Basketball Recap: Bound Brook Crusaders vs. Phillipsburg Stateliners

It was a good run, but the Bound Brook Crusaders unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Phillipsburg by a score of 69-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), Bound Brook still had to take the loss.

Phillipsburg's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Scerbo jr., who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ameer Herran, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Bound Brook's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Phillipsburg, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1.

Bound Brook will face off against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Hunterdon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Phillipsburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Streaks at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Warren Hills Regional will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Stateliners are ranked seventh).
