Baseball Game Preview: Wyalusing Valley Rams vs. South Williamsport Mountaineers

The Wyalusing Valley Rams will face off against the South Williamsport Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wyalusing Valley has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wyalusing Valley lost 13-3 to Troy on Tuesday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, South Williamsport made easy work of Muncy on Monday and carried off a 12-4 victory. The Mountaineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Chance Quimby looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, South Williamsport got a massive performance out of Trace Wertz, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI and one triple. What's more, Wertz posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaymes Carpenter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

South Williamsport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Wyalusing Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for South Williamsport, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6.

Wyalusing Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against South Williamsport in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 11-10. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountaineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
