Football Recap: Strong Effort on D from Tija Holland and Anasofia Espinosa Leads Springstead over Cypress Creek

It's playoff time, and Springstead had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 27-6 margin over the Cypress Creek Coyotes on Monday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Coyotes are ranked 329th).

J'Ziyah Munford had an outrageously good game as she rushed for 84 yards and two scores on only nine carries, and also threw for 66 yards and a pair of TDs. Those two rushing touchdowns gave her a new career-high. Tija Holland was another key player, picking up 33 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Springstead didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Holland and Anasofia Espinosa.

Springstead has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28 points. As for Cypress Creek, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Springstead has already played their next contest, a 26-20 victory against Sunlake on the 15th. Cypress Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
