The Leechburg Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Burrell Bucs at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leechburg's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Burrell's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Leechburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Summit Academy with a sharp 19-1 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blue Devils considering their two-run performance the game before.
Cameron Shimer made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Shimer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dylan Kapalka was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jaxon Vargo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Leechburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Burrell couldn't beat Shady Side Academy on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Bucs fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bucs have suffered since April 17, 2025.
Colton Whitlock was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rayden Shirey made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Adam Wass was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Leechburg's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Burrell, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Burrell's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Leechburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Burrell, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Leechburg keep running through batters, or will the Bucs buck the trend?
Leechburg suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Burrell in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
