Basketball Recap: Thornton Takes a Loss

Thornton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 39-23 bruising from Aurora Central. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Aurora Central this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-27 back in January.

It was another big night for Jamaea Johnson-Gonzales, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards for Aurora Central. Johnson-Gonzales is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Andena Torres was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Aurora Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Thornton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 64-12 defeat against Skyview on the 13th. As for Aurora Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-37 victory against Thomas Jefferson on the 13th.
