Baseball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Hattiesburg

Hattiesburg came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Terry Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 16-0 win last Tuesday.

Not much got past JB Bryant, who gave up just three hits to keep Terry off the board. That's the fewest hits Bryant has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joe Polk, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Weatherspoon, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Hattiesburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Hattiesburg pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Terry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Hattiesburg will welcome West Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Terry, they have already played their next game, a 9-0 loss against Germantown on the 22nd.
