Preview: Palmer Bulldogs vs. Malakoff Tigers
Palmer is 0-10 against the Tigers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Palmer Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Malakoff Tigers at 6:15 p.m. Palmer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1141st, while the Tigers are ranked 94th).
Palmer struggled with threes on Tuesday (the Bulldogs had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Palmer had to suffer through a rough 71-40 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. Palmer has struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Palmer's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Reagan Davis, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Kenli Dobie who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Davis pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Katie Waddle, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Palmer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. This was only their 15th loss (out of 23 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
In what's become a running theme this season, Malakoff gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Eustace on the road to the tune of 56-18. The victory was familiar territory for Malakoff who now have three in a row.
Palmer has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season. As for Malakoff, their win bumped their record up to 27-3.
Palmer was taken down by the Tigers 58-20 in their previous matchup back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Palmer was down 33-13.
