Softball Recap: Freeport Drops Highest Score of Season Against Donelson Christian Academy

Freeport scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats by a score of 13-12. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Kayla Stephens stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Annsleigh Withey, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Freeport hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.

Freeport's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Donelson Christian Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Freeport wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 21-11 win against Vernon on the 13th. As for Donelson Christian Academy, they will host Nashville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Donelson Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
