Football Recap: Seymour Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sullivan East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seymour). They put the hurt on the Sullivan East Patriots with a sharp 36-13 win on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

Despite the loss, Sullivan East had strong showings from Peyton Lingerfelt, who rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and Devin Bowman, who picked up 126 receiving yards and one score. Bowman didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended one pass.

Seymour moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Sullivan East, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Coming up, Seymour will host Northview Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.83 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sullivan East, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Elizabethton at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
