Baseball Recap: Normandy Victorious

Normandy won the last time they faced North Olmsted and things went their way on Monday too. The Invaders walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Invaders.

Jensen Vargo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Normandy is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise. Vargo was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Normandy got a great performance from Dominic Williams as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Lucas, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Normandy: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Normandy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Normandy's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for North Olmsted, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-1 record this season.

Normandy will have a chance to go back-to-back against North Olmsted: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
